This is the departure station for the "Tosa Kuroshio Railway Gomen-Nahari Line," which opened on July 1, 2002.
It connects to JR Shikoku, sharing the station premises.
On the platform, you'll find a monument with the lyrics of "Gomen Eki de Gomen" (Sorry at Gomen Station), written by Takashi Yanase, and a statue of "Gomen Ekio-kun," the station's character designed by him, seeing you off.
Mr. Yanase used to commute by train from here to the old-system junior high school.
It's also said that he had his first love with a female student who commuted on the same train.

*Characters by Mr. Yanase are present at all stations on the Gomen-Nahari Line. Starting your journey from Gomen Station is also recommended.
