Former training site for military horses

This site is the historic remains of "Nakanomaki," one of the pasture sites run by the ranch, "Koganemaki," which was established under the direct supervision of the Tokugawa Shogunate to meet their demand for military horses.
"Tokkome," which refers to wild horse-taming, takes place once a year at a facility here, where the herded horses are specially selected.
This is the first ranch site in all of Japan to become a nationally designated historical site.
