This forest started as a man-made forest

The forest originally started as a man-made forest with planted Japanese cedar and black pine, and it is thought to be about 200 to 300 years old.
At the time the forest was designated, there were two cedar trees and six muku trees giant in size with a chest-height diameter of 3 meters or more.
Also, the Japanese camellia, which is unique to warm-temperate forests, covers the forest as a subcanopy tree, and its flowers begin blooming around the time December starts.
