A historic shrine and one of the five principal shrines in the Tajima region

This shrine is recorded in ancient documents as early as 737 and is counted as one of the five principal shrines in the Tajima region.
Since ancient times it has been affectionately known as “Yabu no Myojin-san” and revered by local people as a deity of agriculture.
Because the buying and selling of cattle—essential for farming—was once conducted under the shrine’s supervision, a deity that protects cattle is also enshrined here.
True to its character as a countryside shrine deeply rooted in local faith, the grounds are filled with a quiet, almost hushed atmosphere.
During hatsumode, the first shrine visit of the New Year, many worshippers come not only from within Yabu City but from across the wider Tajima area.
Yabu-jinja Shrine is also known as one of the leading spots in Hyogo Prefecture for viewing autumn foliage, attracting many visitors and photographers when the leaves turn color.
