Enjoy plenty of cool sensations! Experience a gorge overflowing with negative ions

This roughly 1-km hiking course, selected as one of the “100 Best Hiking Trails” in 2002, consists of a series of 11 tunnels of various sizes.
Until the mid 1950s, it was used as a trail road for transporting charcoal and lumber.
Just a short distance into this gorge, visitors will see the 32-meter-high, 60-meter-wide “Byobu-Iwa Rock” appear before their eyes.
This is a welded tuff formed from hardened volcanic ash, which has been eroded by weathering and other factors.
Further along the gorge, visitors will be delighted by the stunning beauty of natural formations such as “Kappa-do Cave”, where the legend of kappa remains, “Yagura-no Todoro”, selected as one of the 100 best soundscapes of Japan to preserve, and “Senjo-Iwa Rock”, created by the erosion of water.
At the end of the gorge is "Hashimitsu Bridge", a municipal tangible cultural property.
Built during the war, primarily by local residents, this bamboo reinforced concrete bridge is 22m above the water, and it blends into the surrounding scenery to create a spectacularly beautiful sight.
Visitors can enjoy the beauty of natural formations together with fresh greenery in summer and colorful autumn leaves in autumn.
